BREAKING NEWS: Major Drug Find at Guyana airport, Airport staff arrested
Several baggage and ramp attendants at Guyana’s Cheddi Jagan Airport are in custody being questioned after another major drug find at the airport beyond the security checkpoints. Security sources have confirmed that 25 blocks of cocaine weighing over 50 pounds were found stashed away in a bag in one of the baggage carts used to transfers the bags of passengers from the security check points to the aircraft. The early morning bust saw CANU agents and the Police moving in and arresting a number of the baggage and ramp attendants who were on duty at the time. They are all being questioned. Just recently the airport and the drug enforcement agencies launched a probe into just how cocaine continues to make it pass the security check points at the airport. A few months back, an airline staff had discovered a drug laden bag on the inside of the airport’s fence close to the runway. That matter is still under probe.
