Minister of Education criticized for blaming school fire on Linden protestors
The rush by the Minister of Education to blame the Linden protesters for the burning of the Wismar Primary School is drawing criticism from some protesters who made their displeasure known at her office today.
The group of activists, NGO’s and other concerned citizens said the minister and other government officials have stayed clear from condemning the police after three protesters were shot and killed. They told Capitol News that when children were injured during Sunday’s assault the minister stayed silent.
The residents handed over a number of persons to the police whom they suspect were involved in the burning of the school, but the police claimed that they don’t have enough evidence to press charges.
Over 800 students are expected to be displaced when the new school term starts in September.
