Guyana Power and Light company to change it’s policing method to reduce electricity theft
The Guyana Power and Light company intends to take a more soft approach, and change its old policing method to reduce electricity theft.
CEO of the utility, Bharrat Dindyal, made this disclosure at a meeting with the press. He said that over 1000 cases are before the courts.
Dindyal said that the utility was able to gain a 50% increase in convictions over the past 2 years.
Dindyal also said that over the last two years the level of power losses has come down to approximately 32%.
He said that GPL is continuing to analyze all action taken to address electricity theft.
