Urgent measures must be put in place to arrest decline in nation’s academic performance, says AFC
The Alliance For Change (AFC), believes that urgent measures must be put in place to arrest what they see as a decline in the performances of the nation’s children.
AFC Chairman, Nigel Hughes, made that observation at the Party’s press conference recently.
Hughes said that the very survival of our young people demands that this be a priority.
Dipping grades in especially Math and English at the CXC level in Guyana and the Caribbean Region have sparked debates across the Caribbean about the effectiveness of the teaching methods being employed and what needs to be done to see improvements.
According to results for 2012, 1 out of every 3 candidates has achieved lower than a grade 3 pass in Math and for English that percentage is slightly higher.
