Head of NICIL, Winston Brassington testifies at Linden Commission of Inquiry

The issue of ownership of the Linmine Secretariat came up for discussion this morning at the Linden Commission of Inquiry hearing as the Head of NICIL, Winston Brassington, testified that the Linmine Secretariat building was owned by NICIL. The building was completely gutted by fire on the night of July 18th. Brassington told the Commission that all the assets of the Linmine had been transferred to the ownership of NICIL.

And the owner of a fuel tanker was scolded by the Commission today for not going to his insurance company after his truck was destroyed by fire on the night of July 18th, the first day of the Linden protests. The man told the Commission that he sought advice from Freedom House and the Prime Minister.

The Commission is examining losses and the need to compensate as part of its terms of reference.
