A six-year-old boy is dead and a man is in police custody following an incident at Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, the child, Ifeng Cao, a Chinese national, sustained a fatal chop wound to the neck during an incident involving a male Chinese national.
The incident occurred at about 3:45 pm.
The child was rushed to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect was arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
