Human Services Minister Dr Vindhya Persaud has visited the grieving family of six-year-old Ifeng Cao, who was killed on Wednesday afternoon at Parika, East Bank Essequibo.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, Minister Persaud expressed her deepest condolences to Ifeng’s parents and family as they navigate their unimaginable loss. The Ministry said the family was assured that it stands ready to provide the necessary support and assistance during this difficult time.

Minister Persaud was accompanied on the visit by the Director of the Childcare and Protection Agency, Levine Gouveia.
In a separate statement, the police said Ifeng sustained a chop wound to his neck during an incident involving a male Chinese national.
The child was rushed to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect remains in custody as police continue their investigation.
