Embattled Assistant Police Commissioner Calvin Brutus moved to court seeking an order to quash the disciplinary tribunal empaneled to investigate several allegations levelled against him. Brutus through his attorneys Eusi Anderson and Darren Wade also filed a second lawsuit which targets the members of the tribunal Shoshanna Lall, Seelall Persaud, and Bernard Da Silva for bias.

It should be noted that Brutus is already before the court answering to some 261 charges relating to misconduct in public office; money laundering; and accepting money under false pretense.

In the documents filed, the attorneys have made the claim that the three members of the tribunal have conflict of interests and personal biases against him.

Shoshanna Lall, the attorneys said is subordinate to Attorney General Anil Nandlall in the Attorney General Chamber and is paid by the state; that she cannot go against Nandlall who has publicly stated that Brutus will be dismissed from the Guyana Police Force after the processes are activated.

Former Police Commissioner Seelall Persaud the attorneys said is contracted to the state and will not act differently. Attorney Bernard DaSilva he said, should be excluded as Counsel to the tribunal because of his bias, having been rejected by Brutus to be a part of his legal team.

The Attorneys who have forwarded their complaints to the bar association, national and international human rights groups and diplomatic community have labelled the panel as tainted, biased, and emanating from a poisoned well.

The tribunal the legal minds have said has ignored every tenet of constitutional fairness, leading them to activate all avenues to protect their client.
