Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton has called on the Guyana Police Force to issue a wanted bulletin and arrest Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mandall. According to Norton, the senior policeman should be arrested for creating public mischief in the death of eleven-year-old Adriana Younge.
Norton’s call comes in the wake of the wanted bulletin and subsequent arrest of a nursing assistant for allegedly making comments on the autopsy of Adriana Younge’s autopsy which went viral. The nursing assistant is accused of making public mischief.
According to the Opposition Leader, Assistant Commissioner Mandlall should be charged with obstructing the course of justice and creating public mischief.
Mandlall, who headed Regional Division 3, allegedly showed the mother of eleven-year-old Adriana that there was a video recording which showed the child leaving the hotel. However, the parents and many who were concerned about the safety of the child stood their ground, maintaining that she never left the hotel.
Adriana’s body, just as many said, was right in the compound of the Double Day Hotel, located in Tushchen, East Bank Essequibo. The body mysteriously appeared in the hotel’s pool, which was searched the day she disappeared and on the day her body was found.
The opposition leader said the Guyana Police Force must be fair. Mandlall is currently on administration on administrative leave to facilitate an investigation into the circumstances of Adriana’s death.
