Sol Guyana Inc. has announced the launch of an investigation into Sunday’s tragic explosion that resulted in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne and injuries to others.

In a press statement, the company extended heartfelt condolences to Soraya’s family and those affected by the incident. Sol Guyana, the authorised distributor of Mobil Fuels in Guyana through its branded retail network, confirmed that local authorities-led by the Ministry of Home Affairs-are conducting a thorough investigation at the site.

The Guyana Police Force has classified the incident as a criminal matter. An individual believed to be responsible has been identified and is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation.

Sol Guyana stated its full commitment to cooperating with the relevant authorities and has also initiated an internal review in collaboration with the retailer involved.
