Three individuals—including two men aged 25 and 29, and a 25-year-old woman—have been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Faynel Brewster, a mother of one, who was killed on Sunday night at her East Ruimveldt home.
Brewster was shot during a violent altercation between two men and her brother, whom they had reportedly followed in an attempt to steal his XR motorcycle and gold chain. During the struggle, Brewster was struck twice—once in her upper right arm and once in her lower chest. She was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to a statement from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) of the Guyana Police Force, the suspects—a vendor, an operator, and a farmer—were arrested at a residence in East La Penitence following what police described as “intensive investigative work.”
During a search of the premises, ranks discovered fifty (50) live 9mm rounds of ammunition and a black Honda XR motorcycle believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. The three remain in custody and are said to be assisting with the investigation.
The gunmen reportedly fled the scene after failing to rob Brewster’s brother of his belongings.
