The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, together with the Guyana Tourism Authority, on Monday issued a press statement condemning the recent attack on international visitor Antony D’Oliveira, host of the Jumps Travel Documentary YouTube channel.
The agencies described the act of violence as wholly unacceptable and contrary to the values of hospitality, safety, and respect for which Guyana is known. They emphasized that the safety and well‑being of all visitors and residents remain a top priority.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working with law enforcement, tourism stakeholders, and local communities to ensure Guyana remains a secure destination where all people feel respected. It also called on the Guyana Police Force to conduct a thorough and swift investigation and to apprehend the individual responsible in accordance with the law.

D’Oliveira, a French national with more than 30,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, posted a recording of the assault, which was widely condemned by viewers—some even offering apologies.
On his LinkedIn profile, D’Oliveira notes that over the past decade he has travelled solo to 90 countries, sharing his unique perspective on global prejudices and the migrant crisis, while seeking to break down barriers.
