Two motorcyclists lost their lives in separate in accidents on Monday. The two are Markind Jackson who died on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway while Ricardo Melville lost his life on the East Bank Demerara Public Road.
According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Jackson, 39, was driving his motorcycle on the Moblissa Public Road along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway when he was struck by a minibus in a head-on collision. The impact of the collision pushed Jackson’s motorcycle into a car parked along the highway.
The driver of the minibus who has been identified as Maurice Meredith of Wismar Linden, is in hospital being treated for his injuries. He was transported to the hospital in a semi-conscious condition.
Jackson, on the other hand, was pronounced dead on arrival when he was rushed to the hospital.
In the second road fatality, the driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Ricardo Melville – 19. According to the police Melville who lived in Kaneville, on the East Bank Demerara, was driving his motorcycle at a fast rate when he lost control and slammed into a concrete culvert in the community of Diamond.
The unconscious teenager was picked up by Emergency Medical Technicians and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he succumbed to his injuries while being treated.
Post-mortem examinations are to be carried out on both their remains.
