During a meeting with the UK’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron, issues related to the Guyana-Venezuela controversy were raised according to the Office of the President. President Irfaan Ali met with the UK’s Head of State King Charles III and former UK Prime Minister and current Foreign Secretary, David Cameron. Second Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo was also part of the meeting in Dubai. It is not clear whether Guyana obtained any additional assurances or commitments from the United Kingdom. The UK is a signatory to the Geneva Agreement that has led to the matter being now before the International Court of Justice.
President Ali is leading Guyana’s delegation at the United Nations Climate Change Conference known as COP) 28, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He is expected to return to Guyana on Saturday, December 2.
