A 25-year-old Tucville man is in police custody in connection with an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

According to a statement issued by the police, the discovery was made on Wednesday about 23:30hrs at a wash bay on Jackson Street, Tucville.

Ranks, acting on information, went to the location, where they contacted the suspect, who is said to be self-employed.

A search of the wash bay, conducted in the suspect’s presence, led ranks to a .32 pistol along with a magazine containing six matching live rounds of ammunition, found in a drawer of a table.

The suspect told police he was not a licensed firearm holder. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the East La Penitence Police Station, where he was placed in custody. The gun and ammunition were lodged as evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
