Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with a second marijuana bust at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Wednesday, April 30.
According to a statement issued by the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), its officers together with officers attached to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and acting on information received, searched two incoming barrels from the United States of America.
During the search, the officers found several transparent parcels containing a quality of foreign marijuana was found. The drugs when weighed amounted to 16.4 kilograms or the equivalent of 36.15 pounds.
According to the drug enforcement agency, during a follow-up investigation at a North East La Penitence address in the city, ranks found a black garbage bag containing several small packages of foreign marijuana in zip-lock bags, small plastic containers used to package marijuana, and rolling paper.

The items found were all confiscated, and two persons were taken into custody, who are said to be assisting with the investigation.
