The Regional Police Division of Region 1, is in search of a 40-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old girl Janelly David with whom he reportedly shared a relationship with.

According to a statement issued by the Corporate Communications Unit the teenager died between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning at Barama Line, Baramita.

The suspect Eon Moore, the police said fled the scene sometime after 10:30 hrs on Thursday.

A cook in the area told investigators that she saw the 40-year-old and the teenager on Wednesday evening, and they appeared to be in good spirits and health. The woman said she left the camp for Central Baramita and returned the following morning when she observed the suspect packing his belongings on a Red Suzuki ATV with no registration number.

This prompted the 31-year-old to ask Moore for David, to which he replied that she was sleeping in the hammock.

When she checked on the teenager, she found her motionless with visible marks of violence on her face. While the cook was checking on David, Moore fled the area.

Ranks from the Baramita Police Station escorted the teen to the Baramita Cottage Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The statement said marks of violence were observed to David’s right eye and swelling to the back of her head.
