While not denying aiding businessman and now political rival Azruddin Mohamed to clear a luxury vehicle, President Irfaan Ali on Monday claimed that the businessman did not give him the correct invoice considering figures subsequently released.
Mohamed in a recording shared on Team Mohamed’s official page said he was only responding to challenges from President Irfaan Ali and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo to publish his truth.
In text messages shared during the recording Mohamed disclosed that President Ali facilitated the clearance of the vehicle.
President Ali in responding to the claims said Mohamed’s recording reinforces his duplicity and dishonesty.
Confirming his communication with Mohamed, President Ali said that at no time did Azzrudin Mohamed present any invoice for US$695,000, which we now know is the true and correct value of the car, adding that he reaffirmed and confirmed his lies that the invoice shared and presented to GRA was value US75,000.
Ali said series of financial transfers made to the same company verifying the actual price paid for the car.
The president accused Mohamed of laying about the true value which was presented to him or the revenue collection agency.
