Regional carrier Caribbean Airlines on Monday issued an apology to Guyana and promised that an investigation will be launched into the use of an incomplete map in a recent advertisement published in its magazine.

The company in its press statement said it recognises the 83,000 square miles to be the map of Guyana and deeply regretted what occurred and understands the concerns it has caused, particularly among its valued Guyanese customers and stakeholders.

The airline said it holds the highest regard for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations it serves, and fully recognised the significance of its national symbols, including maps, to the people of Guyana.

The regional carrier however, said the error was entirely unintentional and does not reflect the views and values of the company, adding that it is a proud regional airline, and is firmly committed to fostering unity, respect, and mutual understanding across the Caribbean.

Further, the airline said it has taken immediate steps to investigate how this occurred and to ensure that stronger internal review processes are in place to prevent any recurrence.
