The Guyana Police Force is in search of three Spanish-speaking men suspected to be Venezuelans in connection to the acts of terrorism at the East Ruimveldt Police Station and the Guyana Power and Light Sub-Station.
Two weeks ago, a bomb exploded at the East La Penitence Police Outpost where it exploded. No injuries were reported but a back gate was damaged. A second devise was found at the GPL Sub-station.
No names were given for the three suspects. The Corporate Communication’s Unit (CCU) would only say that the men were Spanish-speaking. There was no mention of their nationalities.
Reports are that police officers were reviewing state control CCTV cameras and cameras in the neighborhood as part of their investigation into the attack.
For several years political parties and a section of society had raised concerns about the increased numbers of Venezuela migrants in the country.
There are an estimated 25,000 Venezuelan migrants living in Guyana, however given the country’s porous borders the numbers could be higher.
