A group of local activists staged a picketing exercise outside the United States Embassy in Guyana, condemning U.S. actions in Venezuela.

The activists accused Washington of violating international law and undermining the Caribbean’s designation as a Zone of Peace. They also referenced deaths linked to the U.S. fight against drug smuggling in the region, as well as those who lost their lives during last Saturday’s military operation.

Danuta Radzik told reporters: “No one country has the right to claim the resources of another country.”

Attorney-at-law Christopher Ram added that U.S. support for Guyana’s protection of its territorial integrity against Venezuela should be viewed separately from Washington’s recent actions in Venezuela.
