APNU/PNCR and AFC leaders, Aubrey Norton and Nigel Hughes, are continuing their discussions about another potential coalition to challenge the governing People’s Progressive Party in the upcoming Regional and General Elections.
Early this morning, March 31st, the leaders met in Georgetown at the Cara Lodge, located on Quamina Street, to hash out outstanding issues of mutual concern.
While making its demands clear, the AFC is willing to establish a 60-40 partnership with the APNU/PNCR, granting that party majority governing control if it wins the 2025 polls later this year.
APNU/PNCR leader Norton told reporters that the AFC would provide its position in writing, while Hughes described the talks as very useful.
The two-party leaders did not provide a clear timeline for whether this agreement, binding the parties as one at the next elections, is likely to be signed soon.
According to a statement from the AFC on Sunday, its National Executive Committee agreed that the party nominating the Presidential Candidate will not be allowed to hold the Leader of the List position, and that its Leader, Nigel Hughes, was identified as that party’s Presidential Candidate.
Hughes was accompanied by the AFC’s General Secretary, David Patterson, while party executive Sherwood Lowe accompanied Norton. Lowe.
