A twenty-five-year-old security guard is in police custody in connection to the shooting death of a 29-year-old construction worker identified as Rondel Clarke.

According to a statement released by the police, Clarke was shot on Sunday between 7:30 and 7:43 pm.

The security guard is presently in custody and said to be assisting with the investigation.

According to the police, the so far unnamed guard shot Clarke  in Second Street, Foulis on the East Coast of Demerara. There is no information as to what may have led to the killing of Clarke.

However, the police said Clarke was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital for surgery but at 8:20pm the same day he succumbed. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out on his remains to ascertain his exact cause of death.

Last night family members of Clarke gathered at the Cove and John Police Station seeking answers as to how he died.
