A 40-year-old Cuban national who took the life of his stepdaughter was today remanded to prison when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Wispriey Alfonso appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty where the charge was formally read to him, but he was not required to plead as the charge is indictable. He will make his second court appearance on July 9th.
Reports are that Alphonso attached 21-year-old Davely Morales during a violent attack at the Pike Street Apartment last Friday. After the attack, Alphonso surrendered to the police.
The young woman, a sales representative, arrived in Guyana recently with her mother Milaysi Rodrigues, her nine-year-old sister and the suspect. Rodrigues, who was also injured in the attack remains hospitalized.
