Scotiabank has announced a major operational shift in Guyana, confirming that effective November 1, 2025, its longstanding branch will transition into a locally owned subsidiary under the new legal name, Scotiabank Guyana Inc.

The Bank of Nova Scotia, Canada, which has operated in Guyana since 1968, stated that the change is part of a broader reorganization strategy aimed at “greater efficiency and capital management.” The move aligns Guyana’s operations with Scotiabank’s existing subsidiary model across the Caribbean and Latin America, including countries such as Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico, and Chile.

In a statement issued to customers, the bank assured that “there will be no impact to your banking relationship with us and you do not need to take any action.” All accounts will remain intact, and the services offered will continue uninterrupted. “The only change you might notice is that the legal name will now be ‘Scotiabank Guyana Inc’ instead of ‘The Bank of Nova Scotia’,” the statement read.

Scotiabank emphasized its continued commitment to serving Guyanese customers, noting, “We are still here to help you reach your goals and plan for the future.”

Customers with questions about the transition are encouraged to contact the bank via phone at 592-223-4357, email [email protected], or speak directly with their branch representative.
