A thirty-three-year-old shop owner is in police custody as detectives continue their investigation into the death of a 54-year-old clothing vendor Datson Davidson.
According to a report issued by the Corporate Communication Unit of the Guyana Police Force, Davidson and the main suspect Colwin Marcurius are known to each other. However, on May 1 at approximately 20:45 hrs the men were involved in an argument following which a loud explosion was heard.
Davidson was later found lying a short distance from where the argument occurred in Cocorite and Freeman Street, East La Penitence in Georgetown.
A 9MM pistol along with one live 9MM round and a spent shell were recovered at the scene by detectives.
Marcuirus, who lives on Freeman Street and had fled the scene, was later arrested.
