The opposition coalition A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) is calling for Tourism Minister Susan Rodrigues to resign from office, citing what it describes as troubling disclosures now circulating in the public domain.

APNU’s call comes as Azruddin Mohamed, leader of the We Invest in Nationhood Party (WIN), has been releasing details of properties he claims are owned by the Minister, including one in Florida, United States.

Minister Rodrigues has denied the corruption allegations, insisting that Mohamed is attempting to deflect attention from his own legal and political challenges.

In its press statement, APNU pointed to Rodrigues’ previous remarks in the National Assembly about her humble beginnings, arguing that the reported accumulation of significant wealth and assets in just five years as a government minister is deeply concerning and warrants a full, independent investigation.

APNU, led by Aubrey Norton, who also heads the People’s National Congress Reform, described the speed and scale of the alleged wealth accumulation as “frightening.” The coalition said the seriousness of the allegations and the nature of the evidence demand that the Minister resign immediately to allow for an impartial probe.

Should Rodrigues fail to step down, APNU is demanding that President Irfaan Ali act decisively and remove her from office, in keeping with his constitutional responsibility to protect the integrity of the executive and restore public trust in governance.
